Swedish Landrace
Description: The Swedish Landrace is the leading breed of swine in Sweden, a country not known for large numbers of swine. The heavy drooping ears found on the Landrace strains in other countries are also typical of the Swedish breed, as is the white color and high proportion of lean meat. Finnish Landrace
Description: The Finnish Landrace has a very similar origin to that of the other Landrace strains of northern Europe. Native stock was crossed with the improved strains of Landrace that were introduced from the other countries, particularly those of the Scandinavian neighbors. While similar to other Landrace, with their white color and heavy, drooping ears, the breed found in Finland is characterized by an extreme trimness. Read the rest of this entry »
